The Perfect Balance

I know, I know... I've gone M.I.A. for a hot minute... And trust me, I am not happy about it, either. I've missed you all! I'm still trying to get the hang of this part-time blogging thing, and as you can imagine, life has been pretty hectic around these parts.

I have to be completely honest - it's been a little challenging for me to find the perfect balance in my life for the blog, my full time job, and my personal life, but I am determined to find that perfect harmony. And I will - just you wait and see! I have so many things I want to share with you all! In the meantime though, let's talk about the weather (and this look), shall we?

The weather here these past few days down in Virginia have been absolutely perfect and you better believe that I have been taking full advantage of it. Since I was talking about finding the perfect balance a little earlier in my post, I guess you can say Mother Nature has found her perfect balance with this amazing early fall weather.

This look was something I threw on before running errands for the day earlier in the week. I'm glad I chose to throw on these insanely comfortable wedges, because I ended up meeting a girlfriend for lunch and while I was pretty casual in my ripped jeans, the height on the wedge (and my trusty Chanel boy bag) dressed the look up a bit. It's obvious that I'm still not ready to say goodbye to my sandals quite yet, so I have a few pair that are still within reach in the front part of my shoe closet.

This top that I bought from Zara a while ago (I'm surprised to see it still in stock here) has been one of my favorite tops to wear on days like this. I love the festive colors of the pom pomps on the top, its easy to pair with your favorite shade of denim (looks great with either light or dark jeans) and it's sooooo soft. I love how flowy it is too, so it's perfect to wear on a girls' day of eating and drinking - you won't be able to see the aftermath of your indulgences ;).

I'm curious to know what your favorite errand/last minute lunch date outfit is? Comment below and let me know!

Pink and White

I originally wanted to save this post for Wednesday for obvious reasons (because that's when we're supposed to wear pink, right?), but I just couldn't help but schedule this post for today.

Let's just talk about this top for a sec... When I saw it online, I knew I had to add it to my shopping cart. I was a little hesitant at first though, because I wasn't sure of the material. I'm one of those people who usually have to physically touch clothes and see how well it's actually been made . This gives me an idea of its potential lifespan, and more importantly, it lets me know if my purchase is actually worth it.

Well, it's safe to say it passed the test. On one of my (in)frequent mall trips (I try to avoid the mall at all costs), I noticed the top hanging what seemed like front and center, and I had to try it on. The fit was perfect, the quality was perfect, and it couldn't be more on trend if it tried (I'm talking exposed shoulders and the feminine frills).

I paired the top with these adorable pink trousers and had THE perfect bag to compliment everything, and there you have it - my favorite outfit I've shot to date!

Friday Favorites, Vol. 1

Happy Friday! I've decided that today I'd share my first installment of Friday Favorites here on the blog. I'm curious to see how well this little category on the blog does, so please let me know if you'd like to see Friday Favorites become a more frequent, if not permanent thing!

Makeup Favorites

I don't know what is is, but I have a slight addiction to anything skin care/makeup related these days. While fashion is my first love, taking care of my skin and finding out which makeup products work best for me are slowly but surely taking the number one spot in my heart. If you follow me on Snapchat (you can find me @alexisbakerrr if you don't follow me already, tsk tsk), you know I go into a mini "Sephora Haul" rant at least a few times a month. It's so fun to tell you about what I've discovered or what I'm excited to try, or what I added to my basket at the last minute standing at that trap of travel-sized things they have strategically placed right before the cash wrap. I just feel like I'm obliged to share with you all what I'm currently loving and what works for me, in hopes of you loving it and it working for you, too!

** Disclaimer: This isn't my makeup routine in it's entirety. These are simply just products I'm currently loving. So no, there is no primer, no moisturizer, no setting powder in this set, but I definitely do use them when trying to achieve a fully makeup look. :) **

Diorskin Nude Air Serum SPF 20 in Dark Beige (050) - Three words: You. NEED. This. I am obsessed with Don C.'s wife, Kristen Noel Crawley and the way she is so passionate about taking care of her skin. She uses a lot of Dior products and I wanted to try this stuff since she swears by it, and now I see why. This is the lightest, most flawless foundation I've ever used. The coverage is super buildable and you forget you even have makeup on. When I'm not looking for something too heavy, I'll mix a few drops into my moisturizer and call it a day. You'll definitely want to apply this foundation with a dense makeup brush, not a beauty blender - the beauty blender will just absorb all of your product.

Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick Compact in Cranberry - This compact is one of the most diverse compacts I think I own, and I am so glad I added it to my arsenal. I use it as a blush, but there are highlighting and bronzing components in it as well which basically do everything I need it to do for my face with just one swipe. If I'm looking to warm my face up a little more than usual or highlight it a little more than just an equal distribution, I'll focus on one particular part of the compact to satisfy whatever look it is I'm looking to achieve. There are different color combinations of this brick, but this one is perfect for me.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown - The only thing I use on my brows, so that's really all I have to say. What I was using before this lovely invention, no clue. The formula is great, the shade matches my eyebrow hair color perfectly and the result you get look like real little eyebrow hairs. Super easy to control, too. 99.9% sure all of my female readers own this, it's that good.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow - I love, love, love this palette. The shades in 'That Glow' give you such a sunkissed, healthy glow. I use it with the ABH #23 brush. Match made in heaven.

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara in Blackest Black - I stumbled upon this mascara, and I am so glad I did. The formula isn't too harsh, it defines my lashes perfectly, ANDDDD I don't lose any lashes when I go to remove my eye makeup! Woo!

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Club Mix - I own a ton of the NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils because they're just that good. Not too sticky, but also very moisturizing. I love the shade 'Club Mix'. It looks a little like my natural lip color with a hint of berry. The only thing I wish you could do with these bad boys is sharpen them...

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater -This is the icing on the cake for me. I think I got my first Mario Badescu product in a random Urban Outfitters store, and I purchased it because of the smell alone. It's divine. I love anything rose-scented. I spray this on after I've done my makeup to finish everything. It's kind of like my version of MAC's Fix+ spray, but an all natural alternative. Plus, it's not sticky like I MAC's is after I spray it on my face. It's also nice to use as a hydrating mist on a hot day. I even bring this when I'm traveling to spray on my face mid-flight. Mario's price points are pretty appealing, also.

So, there you have it, these are my Friday Favorites! I hope some of you try my favorites out and find that they'll become your favorites, too!

White Hot Wednesday

There's  just something about an all-white outfit during the brutal Summer months that instantly make you look (and feel) cooler...

...which is why I've been gravitating towards the color all Summer '16. Now all white can get a little boring, so the fact that my top has a little bit of a taupe suede action going on at the bottom was a nice touch, because let's face it - I love my nude tones.

All white is so easy to wear; it's effortless, and I am all about looking like I've spent a lot of time on my appearance when it's quite the contrary (let's not forget to mention how good it looks on with tanned skin). I really cannot be bothered when the temperature has surpassed 85 degrees before 12:00pm, so always making sure I'm in something that I can survive the heat in is always at the top of my list.

My legs freeze inside of restaurants and office buildings so this white denim was a nice compromise - not to mention these jeans are so breathable, they're the perfect summertime pant!

I can't wait to create more all-white looks, as I'm one of those girls who will be wearing her whites well into Fall, so I'll be sure not to pack them away in storage just yet!

Beautiful Morning

When De Lisa sent me the location of where our photoshoot was taking place with a call time of 6:00am, I caught a case of anxiety. But the good kind.

I won't say much about this post other than it was so much fun to work with my photographer and good friend, De Lisa again. We're always looking to work together and make magic whenever our schedules permit, and I think we hit the nail right on the head with this one. I will say that you all will be seeing more of her work here on the blog, so you're welcome in advance ;)... She's got such a good eye, and our dynamic together is flawless. I hope you enjoy these photos just as much as we enjoyed creating them for you!
